Welcome to NiqaB**ch

Hi, salaam alaikum (Peace be upon you), my name is Sarah: I am a convert to Islam, have a B.S. in physics, a graduate student in Near Eastern Studies, and an author. I started writing a blog because a friend, an ex-friend, told me I should write one instead of annoying her with my random information. The advice she gave me helped me realize that I should share my interest with the world.

Why the name NiqaB**ch?

NiqaB**ch is a play on words with the words niqab and bitch. Its also apart of the title of my upcoming book. The name represents strong women who face veil, but to me, it represents all strong women. Bitch has been owned by women in modern times, we say it to our friends and we own it for feminism. So in the name of feminism, I choose to combine the word that describes a face veil and bitch. It is meant to be a shocking name, like boss bitch, I want people to stop and process the title.

Niqabi women are some of the strongest women, in my opinion. Women that wear it because they are forced to are strong for enduring. Women who fight Western laws by wearing it are strong. Women wear it while running 5 ks, going to work, shopping, riding skateboards, and etc, a woman can be a niqab-ch to patriarchy.

What is this Blog about?

Websites say to be a successful blog, I should narrow my focus to one topic. I appreciate the advice, but my blog will cover religion/spirituality, culture, history, politics, and feminism. Although many of my blogs will cover various Islamic topics, and may also use Islamic undertones. This is not a blog that discriminates against any race, religion, culture, gender, or sexuality. Nor will I allow for discriminatory remarks in comments. I encourage discussion, however, if you disagree with what I say then you can say it in a polite criticizing way.
